In Javanese folklore, the “Janggitan” is a spirit that poses a significant nuisance to fish farmers. These creatures, originating from the island of Java, are known to gather in groups and steal fish from ponds, causing significant losses to farmers.

They often travel in groups and use fire emitted from their fingertips or heads to illuminate their surroundings during their nocturnal fishing expeditions. These creatures are believed to be fearful of humans and rely heavily on their sense of smell to detect human presence. When they sense humans nearby, they often flee in panic.
