A jet engine which has historical importance. It is a cut away model on displace at Cranfield University. Reduced by 95% to allow online viewing.

Capture of this object required no flash, handheld capture in a dark room. ISO 1600 was the lowest that could be used to get the correct speed of capture.

The “DART”

In 1950 the Dart became the world’s first gas turbine to be used in scheduled service, powering the Vickers Viscount on flights between London, Edinburgh and Paris. Since then the engine has achieved over 10 million running hours This dependable turboprop was selected to power a range of ten civil and military aircraft types many of which are still in service today.
