Jim Ranzy Spencer Grave Marker (Eatonville, FL)3D Model
I recently photoscanned this grave marker in the course of supervising graduate work with the Eatonville Communicyt Cemetery Association, Inc., which includes a GPR survey of several areas to locate unmarked graves. The grave of Jim Ranzy Spencer (1900-1948) caught my eye because it is a American Woodmen marker. This African American benevolent society began as a White society in 1901, but became African American in 1910. Like similar societies (e.g., Woodmen of the World), the American Woodmen functioned as an insurance company that paid benefits to the families of deceased members. Ranzy Spencer’s WWI registration card listed their trade as farming and place of residence as Calhoun, Mississippi in 1917. More research will be required to determine more of their life story.
This model was created from 108 photos in Metashape, with further processing (retopology, baking, etc.) in Blender.
