More model informationThis layer of quartz is between layers of a granitic rock called monzogranite, and looks like perfectly laid bricks. The whole layer cracked into pieces and many boulders are still in place. If you zoom out you can see that this is a just a seam between thicker layers of granite. All of the rocks piles fit togeather because they were a solid layer that weathered away leaving many rocks where they were. ; “Light-colored aplite, pegmatite and andesite dikes formed as a mixture of quartz and potassium minerals cooled in these tight spaces.”
