It was built of regular black tuff stone, and the floor is with stone tiles. Caravanserai is placed in the north-south direction. The preserved part of the caravanserai of Nerkin Jrapi is a three-nave hall with a total length of 31 m and a width of 13.65 m. Along the length, 8 thick-walled pillars were placed in two rows, which divide the hall into 3 ‘ships’, connected by arches. The caravanserai was built on the main road going from Georgia and the northern provinces of Armenia to Ani.
