This is a model of Tomb R2, from the necropolis of the Vallone di San Lorenzo, Montecchio (TR), Italy, constructed of dry laid travertine blocks, prior to the excavation of the central long stone (posited to the be the closing slab). The two other long stones functioned as benches for the bodies of the deceased. Many artifacts and bones are visible in the soil within the tomb. At least six individuals were laid to rest here. Although robbed in antiquity of its most precious artifacts and damaged by flooding, it nevertheless contained extensive grave goods which attest to a family of high social rank.
