More model informationWhile this artifact may just look like a rock, it is actually a traditional Hawaiian fishing sinker. The basalt “breadloaf” sinker (KS-0141-0007) is 7.3 cm long. It is from the from the Kalaemanō Archaeological Preserve, located on the western shore of the Big Island. The 150 acre preserve was created to protect traditional Hawaiian archaeological sites associated with habitation, fishing activities, salt manufacture, and recreation.
