Kellogg Mansion Boy with Duck Statue3D ModelNoAI
The boy with duck was a common motif for statuary in the Art Deco design c. 1920-1935. The piece is seen in early historic photographs of that period from the Kellogg Mansion, Dunedin, Florida (c. 1925), and is part of the collection from the cereal magnate’s occupation of the home. The solid cement statue is shown holding a duck or goose and was part of a fountain statuary at the home. There is a copper spout that is seen coming from the duck’s beak. Water would have spilled into a pedestaal basin and been recirculated.
Today the piece is curated by the Dunedin History Museum and has been 3D scanned using structured light instrumentation and photogrammetry as part of our digital preservation and virtual tour project of the Kellogg Mansion and associated landscape.
