More model informationWe present a model of a Songye Kifwebe mask. Geometrism dominates a facet of the songye style and is reflected in its masks that simplify human features to the maximum. The “Kifwebe” male masks, like the one on the model, have a central crest that divides the skull into two hemispherical sections or cubic volumes. This crest extends to form the geometric, triangular nose. The parallelepiped mouth projects forward and ends in a recess. The eyes are hemispherical, cylindrical or conical, very prominent, placed at the end in a geometric shape. This mask was photogrammetrized by Artmonite on a trip to Rwanda in 2023.
