Decimated model of the largest carved rock stored at Kirkdale House (Kirkcudbright, Dumfries and Galloway). Please note access to this property is restricted. The provenance of this panel is unknown. It is currently located in a central position inside the shed, flanked by other carved blocks. The composition of the motifs is very complex. It is interesting to note that in two edges the surface of the rock has flaked and detached. The new, smooth surfaces were then re-carved, in one occasion attempting to reconstruct the initial motif. There is a variety of motifs depicted here such as cup-and-rings and keyholes.
