More model informationThis Knap of Hower Grinder was discovered in excavations on the early Neolithic settlement of Knap of Howar, Papa Westray, Orkney. This tool has been manufactured from a fine grained sandstone cobble that was split and finely pecked to shape. The flat face have been ground smooth by use and a characteristic area of pecking is present at the centre of this face.
