Knockgraffon - TS075-019006 Exhibitionist Figure

Incorporated into the church (TS075-019002-) at Knockgraffon. At the SE angle, below the lowest coping stone, there is a corbel projecting S with an exhibitionist figure (TS075-019005-) and one course below this there is another corbel projecting E from which a carved human figure is emerging (TS075-019006-). It consists of a carved head with two arms, dexter arm (his right) under chin and sinister arm supporting his unseen body. It is quite worn, eyes quite hollow, nose worn, mouth appears to be down-turned. Though not strictly ‘contorted’ this figure is part of the exhibitionist figure tradition.
