This prehistoric carved rock is known as ‘Knotties Stone’, and can be found towards the eastern end of Beacon Hill, on Otley Chevin in West Yorkshire.
Boughey & Vickerman reference the carving IAG396 in ‘Prehistoric Rock Art of the West Riding’ and describe:
‘Medium-sized embedded rock of medium grit with small pebble inclusions (making it a surprising choice for carving). Two cups, one at the bottom of a groove leading from the centre of a design now difficult to make out, except three rings surround it: there are suggestions of two more inner rings the area is too worn to be clear about what was carved’.
