Reconstruction of Kom W (Fayum, Egypt) a place that was occupied during the middle Holocene. This model was made from section drawings previously published in the 1930’s by Gertrude Caton-Thompson and Elinor Gardner, who worked in the Fayum during the 1920’s. The area has been subject to destruction from looters and modern developments, bringing new improtance to previously recovered data.
This reconstruction of the surface of the site prior to excavation in the 1920’s, which is itself a destructive process, has enabled a new interpretation about the formation of the archaeological deposits that make up Kom W.
