More model informationThe church in Kyjatice dates back to the late 13th or early 14th century. It is originally a fortified Romanesque-Gothic single-nave church with a sanctuary, an attached tower on the eastern side, and a sacristy on the northern side. Within the area, there are now only ruins of the former school and rectory.
Behind the church walls, you will discover unique medieval wall paintings originating from two periods: the late 14th century (sanctuary, triumphal arch) and the first half of the 15th century (north wall of the nave). The frescoes were whitewashed after the Reformation, and were rediscovered by István Gróh in 1894, subsequently being repainted. They were restored in the 1980s.
