Here’s for you an high detailed scan of a real gypsum bas-relief. It comes from a panel placed on the front doorway of the Nonantola abbey in Emilia Romagna, Italy. It was originally sculpted by Wiligelmo and his school in 1117 A.D.
The doorway is composed by two set of panels that narrate from the bottom to the top the story of Jesus’ Childhood on the right and the story of the Abbey on the left.
This particular panel represents the fight of Samson against the lion witch insipired him to tell the riddle to the Philistines.
