Civil and complementary works in the east side (Calarcá city).
The Línea (English language: “The Line”) Tunnel , is part of the road corridor that will connect Bogotá with the Buenaventura port in the Pacific ocean, the construction started in December 2008, the work was due to be ready in 2013.
The project crosses the central cordillera of the Colombian Andes between the departments of Tolima and Quindío, in a length of 8.6km and beneath the locally famous “Alto de La Línea”. Still 12 percent of the work is missing and includes major engineering works such as 18 additional tunnels, 23 viaducts and the completion of the main tunnel. The work was awarded to a new consortium, which will have to finish in 2019. Upon completion, it will be the longest automotive tunnel in Latin America.
