Vertices: 1.3M
More model information(orchis purpurea) In late spring these orchids grow in an untended field close to my house (in Perigord-Dordogne). This challenge was an oportunity for me to try and 3D-shoot this beautiful flower, and display it using the point cloud format (BTW Thanks @nebulousflynn for giving me this oportunity). I’ve also got the regular mesh versioncheck it here : https://skfb.ly/6qTWo.
I downsampled (/64) the original point cloud and adjusted the point size to keep the vertice count reasonnable (around 1M), and yet retain the feeling of the finest details of the flower.
Note : no orchid was killed during the shooting sequence !! to avoid plucking it I had to crawl on the ground to shoot it from (nearly) all angles : the thing is only 20 cm high, including stem, the flower itself about 7cm !!
