Wedding Lamp Oval, roughly shaped lamp, with a handle stud on the steep shoulders. Wide, high ridge, leading into a short nozzle, concave discus, a raised ring around the filling hole, with an inscription running around the filling hole on the discus: ECCIPE PATR(one) VE(nerius?) NVB(e) – “Take, Lord Venerius, marry!”, retrograde; thin relief letters influenced by italic script; readable outward, with the “O” from “Patrone” omitted from the beginning. Slanted, curved wall, base and surface smoothed, clay strongly glowing.
