Large Acupuncture Model

An “annotated” acupuncture training model made of a wooden core and covered in papier-mache, 660 x 220mm, Mid-Edo period. The model is covered with more than a hundred painted dots, representing pressure points, along with their names. The multi-colored long lines represent acu-tracts. Discs of the spine are also numbered and labeled with the corresponding pressure point. Next to many characters, there are references to essential organs including the spleen, kidneys, lungs, heart, and liver. Model is able to stand on its own.
