Late Period Bes Pot

An ancient Egyptian Bes pot, a ceramic jar with applied relief decoration showing the face of the god Bes. Likely dating to the Late Period (c.715 - 332 BCE) of Egypt. The face isn’t entirely clear on the textured model - it is obscured by dirt that has built up on the surface of the vessel. Unusually for a Bes Pot, this example has painted decoration alongside the more usual moulded elements of its design.
