Le Drame Au Désert, Georges Gardet (1887) 3D Model
A lioness delivers a determined fight against a snake that has just killed its young. The remains of two lion cubs that intertwine with the knotty body of the snake are opposed to the posture while tension and threat of the lioness. The plaster model of this sculpture was acquired in 1887 by the City of Paris. The group of bronze exposed here is acquired in 1888 and installed in the park in 1891. Georges Gardet was born on October 11, 1863 in Paris. He is the son of a sculptor. At the Beaux-Arts in Paris, he is a student of Millet and Frémiet. He quickly reveals himself as being very talented in the realization of animal subjects, which remain, all life, themes of predilection. Text from Paristoric.com
