Leather Bag from Hallstatt (NHMW-Prae 86.599)3D Model
3D scan of one of the five almost intact leather bags found in the prehistoric salt mine in Hallstatt, Austria, and has been preserved for over 3,200 years. The bags were made out of raw cowhide and used to carry up to 30 kilograms of salt. The NHM Vienna has been excavating in the prehistoric mine since the 1960s.
A leather bag from Hallstatt is Number 42 of the NHM Top 100 and can be found in Hall 12 of the NHM Vienna.
