More model informationBurial mound in the market town of Großmugl. The tumulus was filled during the Hallstatt culture and is a protected monument. The tumulus has a diameter of 50 meters, a height of 14 meters and is one of the largest barrows in Central Europe. The mound consists of loess and is covered with Pannonian dry grassland. There is a cross on the top. The burial mound gave its name to the village. The oldest tradition is “Grassemugl”, big “Mugel” (hill).
