Leonhardi-fountain on the main square of Perchtoldsdorf. The fountain, which dates from 1962, was erected on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the commissioning of the municipality’s own water supply. The statue of St. Leonhard was created by the sculptor Rudolf Schmidt.
Leonhard of Limoges is venerated as a saint in the Roman Catholic Church. His day of remembrance is 6 November. He is considered the patron saint of prisoners and is also known as the “chain saint”. He is also considered the patron saint of cattle, especially horses.
