More model information

3D scanned Leptoglossus phyllopus (Linnaeus 1767) captured using scAnt, our affordable and open-source platform for the creation of digital 3D models of arthropods and small objects. ScAnt consists of a scanner and a Graphical User Interface which enable the automated generation of multi-view Extended-Depth-Of-Field (EDOF) images. These images are simultaneously processed and masked with a novel approach combining random forest-based edge-detection, adaptive thresholding, and connected component labelling.

This beautiful specimen was prepared and scanned by Ginny Greenway
