Lettered Olive Shell

A lettered olive shell recovered during the 2019 archaeological excavation of the Caulkers’ Houses in Fell’s Point, Maryland. The shell was found from beneath the floorboards of one of the houses, near the fireplace. The lettered olive is a species of large predatory sea snail whose habitate range is from North Carolina to Florida, the Gulf states of North America and extending into Mexico.
