Levallois blade
ca. 90000 BC, Kraków, Poland Archaeological Museum in Kraków
The blade is one of the typical products made with the Levallois technique, whose name comes from the town of Levallois-Perret (now a district of Paris), where the objects manufactured with this technique were found for the first time. The emergence of this technique marks the beginning of the Middle Palaeolithic period (ca. 350,000 years BC) and is considered a significant innovation in the production of siliceous rock products. Most often, it is associated with the Neanderthal man.
