Links of Noltland, Westray, Orkney3D ModelNoAI
Located on the coast of Westray, Orkney, the Links of Noltland is a brilliantly preserved farming settlement dating from about 3300 BC to 800 BC.
This site represents a typical Orcadian farming community and its development over three millennia, from the Neolithic to Early Iron Age periods, and is one of the largest prehistoric settlements to have been excavated in Scotland.
This model depicts Area 5, comprising an extensive enclosed late Neolithic Settlement in the SW of the site. Bounded by a small stone wall, the enclosure measures 30m in diameter, and contains within it at least nine seperate houses, varying in size and style. Key features include bed recesses, dressers, central hearths, flagged floors and under floor drains.
