More model information17 October 2019. One of the most northerly panels in the UK mainland, in a stunning location, being a large erratic boulder perched on a low cliff/bank at the S edge of Lochan Hakel close to the crannog. The boulder is approximately 2.8m x 1.3m x 2.4m high with a flattish top. The rock is probably a garnet gneiss, comprising a mass of large (0.5 to 1.0cm) degraded garnets, which are hard and weather to give the rock a knobbly surface. Some of the cups are deeply incised with clear rings. This model is of the carved surface only.
