More model informationLaser scans of Locomotion No 1, on loan to Head of Steam - Darlington Railway Museum from the National Railway Museum.
This was the first public steam train in the world, travelling up to a whopping 10 mph. Passengers were scared by how fast it went… and it didn’t have any brakes!
Scanned using a FARO Focus laser scanner, processed in FARO Scene, Geomagic and MeshLab. Creating this mesh was difficult because the pipework kept being deleted and the chimney kept filling in. To solve these, the train was meshed in 14 separate, textured pieces, merged together and remapped with a single texture file.
