Lonclara Winch

The Longclara was steam powered weighed 1126 tonnes, and was a dredger built in 1911 in Middlesborough.

She detonated a mine near the river Wear 4th January 1917 and sank with the loss of four crewmen.

The wreck today is upright and broken into three main sections, with two impressive boilers and an engine. The wreck has lots of life on it, with many commercially viable species, such as cod and pollock. This winch is located just off the boilers and engine.
