Long Meg is a 3.4-metre-tall red sandstone monolith associated with a large stone circle (The Daughters) 109 metres x 94 metres located 20 metres to the north. Collectively the group is known as ‘Long Meg and Her Daughters’.
The north east face of Long Meg is decorated with various cup and ring marks and other motif’s, some of which are very eroded. These markings are a form of prehistoric rock art probably dating from the late neolithic to early bronze age. There is also much more modern graffiti - mostly sets of initials.
For this model I have concentrated on the north east face only, lighting on the day was difficult, intense sunlight between dark clouds and occasional heavy rain showers.
