Lordenshaw Hillfort 7f (Sept 2005)3D Model
Carved rock found just S of the outer rampart of Lordenshaw hillfort on Garleigh Moor, S of Rothbury, Northumberland.
Referenced ‘Lordenshaw Hillfort 7f’ on the Beckensall Archive (BA) this carved rock was added to ERA by NADRAP in 2008. The team describe:
“Seven large cups on lower south face of rock, with two small cups on upper face. Six possible, but unlikely cups on south vertical face. Cup marks are not obvious - mostly small and shallow and do not appear to form a pattern of any kind. Possible cups are much clearer on vertical south edge, although these may be natural. Two natural cracks run lengthways and one across bottom width.”
