Lost Stones of Strathtay - Blarmore 3

This boulder is situated around 5m SW of Blarmore 1 & 2. It is at the end of a wall at the entrance to the old farmyard & seems deliberately placed here. The top of the boulder is a concave. This depression might well be artificial & be suggestive of a former use as a trough quern. The downside to this is that the surface is not quite as smooth as would be expected for a quern. There is a single, large cup mark (8 x 3cm) just off centre. The addition of the cupmark would certainly have put paid to further any use as a quern.

The site is situated on the lands of Carie Farm on the N bank of Loch Tay, 1km SSE of Carie farmhouse & some 350m from the shore of the loch in the far SE corner of the estate.
