Lotus Chalice: Bolton Museum Collection

An ancient Egyptian faience lotus chalice dating to the 19th dynasty from the collection of Bolton Library and Museum Services. The chalice features a slender, trumpet-shaped goblet on a short stem decorated with sepals and petals of the blue lotus flower modelled in relief. The material is blue-glazed faience, and the base is reconstructed.

The chalice was excavated by John Garstang at the site of Abydos.
