The Louisiana State Capitol is the Tallest Capitol in the United States! The building is 450 feet high and 460 ft to the tip with 34 floors. Capitole de l’État de Louisiane (French) is the seat of government for the U.S. state of Louisiana and is located in downtown Baton Rouge. The capitol houses the chambers for the Louisiana State Legislature, made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate, as well as the office of the Governor of Louisiana. The Louisiana State Capitol building began construction on December 16, 1930 completed in November 1931. On May 16, 1932 the Louisiana State Capitol was dedicated and opened its historical doors after only 14 months on May 16, 1932. It stands on a 27-acre tract which includes the beautiful gardens. The building cost a modest $5 million to complete.
