Mural memorial commemorating Elizabeth Lovel, widow of the Reverend George Lovel, located on the north wall of the chancel of the Church of St Peter the Apostle, Broadstairs. Fine early Georgian wall tablet of marble combining classical architectural order with delicate sculptural enrichment, characteristic of the early 18th century. The design centres on a rectangular inscription panel framed by Ionic pilasters with enriched scrollwork and acanthus carving, supporting a broken segmental pediment. Above, within the pediment, is a boldly carved cartouche of arms with mantling, flanked by two seated cherubs symbolising innocence and divine guardianship. The side scrolls are ornamented with foliage and floral reliefs, while the base projects slightly with a moulded apron and gadrooned console brackets. The entire monument is executed in white and grey marble, its crisp modelling emphasised by the warm patina of age and the polychrome wall setting.
