More model informationBronze lion on the Schemerl Bridge over the Danube Canal in the 19th district of Vienna. The bridge was built in 1894-1899 to the design of Otto Wagner and named after Joseph Maria Schemerl von Leythenbach, architect and hydraulic engineer. The two lions on the bridge were designed by Rudolf Weyr. The bridge also serves as a weir and, as part of the Nussdorf weir and lock system, regulates the inflow of Danube water into the Danube Canal.
