Using MeshLab:
- Quadric Edge Collapse Decimation with Texture (2000 face target)
- Transfer Color: Texture → Vertex
- Transfer Color: Vertex → Face
- Smooth: Laplacian Face Color
- Transfer Color: Face → Vertex
- Compute Vertex Normals
- Cut mesh along crease edges at 0°
This leaves me with a solid color on every face and hard edges. Exported as VRML and increased the color saturation in Post-Processing.
