The M-80 Paladin was a Super-Heavy Tank designed to dominate battlefields with a wide array of weaponry. The initial M-80A lacked a 360 sensor system making it vulnerable to being outflanked. The D variant fixed this with 10 Sonar/Radar/Lidar combination sensor system, giving the vehicle robust detection in all directions, in all conditions. It’s main armament consisted of a 254 mm hybrid rail cannon and 120 mm smooth-bore cannon. Perhaps the most potent capability of the tank was its defensive systems. A 72 Megawatt laser provided mid-range point defense against missiles, aircraft and even lightly armored vehicles. A more heavy hitting RIM-120 multi-purpose missile launcher extended its defense range out to 80 nm. Countermeasures were provided by a dynamic launcher at the rear of the turret and an active denial system on the turret roof. Finally the Armor, made up of composite plastic and reactive plates, was so effective that for nearly 15 years after its introduction the M-80 was all but indestructible.
