Macaws & an Animal Flute Player (001-09Z02-ABC)3D Model
Here is one of our most well known petroglyph panels - with a little bit more of its nearby friends. Rotate to see the prominent animal flute player features as our organization’s official logo, and is a popular destination for visitors to see from afar and up close. Nonetheless, here is a view you probably haven’t had a chance to experience: a 360° lap around these boulders. As many are aware, the flute player is likely an equinox marker, with the shadow from the boulder above perfectly aligning with the tail and back only at noon on the equinoxes (this model was made at a different time of year). The boulder casting the shadow is remarkle, too! Its upward-facing panel bears two depictions of a macaw (a type of parrot): one naturalistic, the other next to it abstractly stylized. Notice the sparse pecking over the whole panel - this calendar marker is also a ringing rock! See if you can spot the final surprise in this cluster, a third macaw (hint: like the first two, it has a hooked beak).
