18th-century grave-slab covering the grave of Richard Magan, who died in 1732 & his wife Margaret nee Ryan who also died in the same year & were buried in St. Owen’s graveyard (WM024-005001-), Ballymore, Co. Westmeath. The top of the stone bears the coat of arms of the Magan family with inscription which reads; ’Pray for the soul of Richard Magan who departed this life July 14 1732 also his wife Margaret Magan alias Ryan who died January 1732 aged 65. This monument was erected in honor of their memory by their son Francis Magan’. At the bottom of the stone there is a Christogram with cross rising from the cross-bar of the H with omega symbol or semi-circular-shaped rise representing the hill or mount on which Jesus was crucified. The Christogram is contained within a house-shaped frame. The grave-slab lies outside the south-west corner of a chapel possibly built by the Magan family of Umma [Emoe] House, Moyvoughley.
