More model informationTwo major phases within the Tuross Head Tonalite are tonalite and various more mafic diorites. A number of features reminiscent of structures in sedimentary deposits can be witnessed here including load casts, rip-up clasts and flame structures. In this model, load cast like structures can be seen with the more dense diorite magma sinking into the less dense tonalite magma (stratigraphic ‘up’ is towards the top of the initial view). The diorite can also seen to be quenched up against the cooler tonalite, which in turn shows back-veining into the overlying diorite (reminiscent of flame structures).
Compass is 12 cm long, is horizontal and is orientated north.
