On the initiative of Oskar Sollan, a memorial to the Brno death march around Corpus Christi 1945 was created in Poysbrunn. The memorial shows three men on a bench (by artist Martin Messinger) who at first glance appear to be resting. In reality, they had died of exhaustion from the death march. This scene took place in nearby Drassenhofen.
The Brno Death March was a forced expulsion of around 27,000 Sudeten Germans from Brno on May 30, 1945. They were driven on foot towards Austria under extreme conditions. Hunger, exhaustion and abuse claimed thousands of lives. The march was part of the post-war expulsions in Czechoslovakia.
