Courtyard Complex - The sheikh residence is situated south-east of the town of Al-Jazirat Al-Hamra. The complex houses 39ft. tower with the circular plan (19th Century, Beachrock layered into mortar courses) and inclined walls. Originally, the 4-storey tower stood on its own, and the courtyard was later built around it. The position of the tower is strategic as it dominates the approach from the mainland. The tower is rich in defensive features: loopholes on 3 floors; vertical firing slots on 2 floors; three hooded firing spots on the 2nd floor. A ladder is required to access the tower through a door on the top floor.
