The Makimoth is a fusion of a rosy maple moth and a mouse lemour. These little creatures live in trees and hunt for insects at night. They are marvellous climbers and despite their beautiful wings they can only fly short distances. Back in the day the sight of them inspired tales of fairies and gnomes.
Had fun designing this little fella for Jonah Lobes #Tinycreaturechallenge. It was indeed a challenge to keep the polycount and texturemap at 1k for this one. The low poly version didn’t turn out as I wanted it to, but I still like it’s design and will also upload the hi-poly version later. (The creature has 994 polys. The treebranch has 142.)
Sculpted and Textured in ZBrush (and PS). The treebranch was modelled in Maya and just textured with a default wood material form Substance Painter.
