Located at the most easterly point of Promenade Park lie the remnants of over 20 hulked and wrecked vessels in what is known locally as the Barge Graveyard. Today the site, where boats were brought to be hulked, provides a fantastic opportunity to see the many and varied styles of boat construction through the ages and across nations. Lying in the graveyard are the remains of several Thames sailing barges, a lighter, an Admiralty launcher and a fishing vessel built in either Scandinavia or Belgium.
This model was created using MOLA’s aerial survey drone, which flew in circles round the wreck at different altitudes to capture it in the round. The approach is a safe and cost effective way of capturing data about our maritime heritage existing in the inter tidal zone.
