The bronze sculpture by Hermann Scheuernstuhl (* 1894 in Pforzheim - † 1982) was commissioned by the city of Hanover and refers to the historic Marstall and a former horse trough on the riverbank. The riverside promenade was created in 1956 with rubble stones from buildings destroyed in the war.
