More model informationThe 253 ft wooden bulk freighter Manhattan was built in 1887. In 1903 the Manhattan was seeking shelter from a storm when it entered the bay near Munising. When it departed the next day the steering failed and it grounded on the reef and fire broke out. It burned to the waterline but the crew was taken off by the tug Ward. The machinery of the ship was salvaged in 1910. The model was created from 2,490 30 megapixel RAW images shot by Ken Merryman on a DPV dive.
